For Immediate Release – North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: July 8, 2014
TheGolfDirector.com is pleased to announce that a new amateur golf tour will be launched for North and South Carolina. In a partnership with the World Golfers Amateur Tour (WGAT) , the WGAT “Carolina’s Tour” will launch in August 2014 with three National qualifiers. The 2014-2015 season will kick off the beginning of October 2014. Between twelve and twenty four events will comprise a full season for the Carolina’s Tour. Golfers with a 25 handicap or less are allowed to participate. The handicap based format for men and women will determine flighted winners and participation points for all players. The Carolina’s Tour will feature courses throughout both southeastern states, some that most golfers have not had the opportunity to play. The National qualifiers to be held in August 2014, are to be hosted by Grand Strand premier courses Cape Fear National, The International World Tour, and the Grande Dunes Resort Course. During the 2014-2015 WGAT/USA Carolina’s Tour Season, golf courses in Pinehurst, Charleston, Columbia, Charlotte, Asheville, Raleigh, Greensboro and the Grand Strand will host amateur golf tournaments with each player looking to capture enough points to reach the ultimate WGAT prize…a chance to represent Team USA against the World.
The WGAT has been operating globally for almost twenty years with established tours in 44 countries. The WGATUSA Tour was established just two years ago and is growing rapidly in regions throughout America. This year’s National Championship will be held at Mission Inn and Golf Resort at Howey in the Hills, Florida and the World Championship will be held in Durban, South Africa. The tour offers amateur golfers the opportunity to participate in a series of professionally structured and operated golf tournaments giving them a taste of a tour experience. Separating the WGAT from other amateur golf tour business models is certainly the WGAT World Championship. The WGAT Carolina’s Tour has appointed George Honeycutt as Director. Mr. Honeycutt comes with several years experience with development and managing amateur golf tours. Honeycutt states, “There have been many amateur golf tour companies attempting to capture the attention of male and female golfers, but none with the potential of the WGAT. Having a real participation goal and objective like making it to Nationals or even traveling the globe to represent your country as a team member against the other countries is like being invited to play on the Walker, Solheim or Ryder Cup.This partnership between TheGolfDirector.com and the World Golfers Amateur Tour is a seamless fit. With its global audience, (TheGolfDirector.com’s) TGD Radio will promote the Carolinas Tour and WGAT USA.The Carolina’s and Grand Strand coastal area have long been recognized as favorite golfing destinations. Giving amateur golfers an economic, fun, challenging, and professional structured opportunity to grow their golf game in a well structured tournament environment with weekly network coverage is sure to be a hit. We’re excited about the WGAT Carolinas Tour and look forward to the participation.”
Founder of TheGolfDirector.com, Jeff Gilder said, “We’re looking forward to getting the initial National qualifier events completed and finalizing the schedule for the 2014-2015 WGAT Carolina’s Tour season. The WGAT is unique and so potentially rewarding for the amateur golfers from the Carolinas that choose to participate. With the point accumulation process, and the chance for players to get their entry fee’s paid for the National Championship and a chance to earn an all expenses paid trip to represent the USA in the World Championship is a huge benefit offered only by the WGAT. We are extremely pleased for TheGolfDirector.com to be able to bring the tour to the Caolinas and to be in a position to broadcast our tour results and news.”
